HDFC ERGO Appoints Parthanil Ghosh as New MD and CEO
HDFC ERGO General Insurance has officially announced the appointment of Parthanil Ghosh as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors. And it marks a major leadership transition for the insurance firm. This HDFC ERGO appointment as new MD and CEO will come into effect on April 16 2026. And also it is subject to approvals from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and other required regulatory bodies.
The appointment of Parthanil Ghosh as MD and CEO of HDFC ERGO showed the company’s strategy of promoting experienced leaders from the organization itself.
The board believes that his leadership experience and understanding of the insurance business will help guide the company in its next phase of growth.
The HDFC ERGO leadership change comes at a time when India’s general insurance industry is expanding rapidly with the digital adoption.
Parthanil Ghosh joined HDFC ERGO in 2016 after the merger with L&T General Insurance.
Since then he has played an important role in shaping the company’s operational and strategic initiatives across different segments.
To recognition For his contributions he was appointed Executive Director on May 1 2025.
His elevation to the position of Managing Director and CEO of HDFC ERGO reflects the trust the board has placed in his leadership capabilities and long term vision for the company.

But it will become official only after regulatory approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

After receiving the necessary approvals from the IRDAI Parthanil Ghosh will formally assume charge as the new CEO of HDFC ERGO from April 16 2026.
