Heeralal Samariya Appointed as the New Chief Information Commissioner
In an official announcement dated November 6, 2023, Shri Heeralal Samariya was appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission. He formally assumed his new role on the same day.
A swearing-in ceremony was held in the Central Information Commission to mark the assumption of office by the new appointees. During the ceremony, Shri Heeralal Samariya administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Information Commissioners.
Background and Qualifications
Before joining the Central Information Commission as an Information Commissioner, Smt. Anandi Ramalingam held the position of Chairman & Managing Director at Bharat Electronics Ltd. under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. She has a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Electronics & Communication Engineering.

Smt. Anandi Ramalingam possesses significant expertise in various areas, including procurement, conceptualization, design, development, and production of equipment. Her experience extends to technical matters, coordination with different authorities, and handling RTI matters. Her primary areas of specialization include Administration and Governance.
Background and Qualifications
Shri Vinod Kumar Tiwari, an Indian Forest Service Officer, assumed the role of Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Head of Force-cum-Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department, Shimla. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and a Master’s degree in Geology.
