Historic Feat: 15-Year-Old Becomes Youngest T20I Centurion
Rwanda’s young cricketer Fanny Utagushimaninde has scripted the history by becoming the youngest centurion in Women’s T20 International cricket. At the age of just 15 years and 223 days she slammed an unbeaten 111 runs off 65 balls against Ghana in the Nigeria Invitational Tournament. Her historical innings has not only broke previous records but she also became the to make highest score by a player on Women’s T20I debut match.
Fanny Utagushimaninde’s century is a landmark achievement in women cricket history. She has surpassed the previous record of Prosscovia Alako who had scored a century at the age of 16 years and 233 days.
Her innings of 111 unbeaten is now recorded as the youngest T20I century in women’s cricket history.
Achieving this milestone at such a young age will highlights as her exceptional talent, skill and signals new emerging nations.
She also broken another major record while scoring the highest individual score on Women’s T20I debut.
She also went past the previous record which was held by Karen Rolton who scored an unbeaten 96 in 2005.
The achievement makes her innings even more special as it combines both a debut milestone and a global record.
Rwanda delivered a dominant performance in the match Utagushimaninde’s exceptional batting played huge role.
Her innings helped Rwanda to post a strong total of 210 for 3 in 20 overs.
While chasing Ghana struggled against Rwanda’s bowling attack and managed only 88 for 8 and match resulting in a massive 122-run victory.
