Africa is the second-largest continent. It is the only continent crossed by both the Equator and the Prime Meridian. Africa has rich wildlife, large deserts, long rivers like the Nile, and is believed to be the birthplace of humans.

Asia – The Largest Continent

Asia is the largest continent in the world in both area and population. It is home to billions of people and many cultures, languages, and religions. Asia has the Himalayas, where Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain, is located.

How are Countries Placed in Continents?

Countries are grouped into continents based on two main reasons.

• The first is location—countries close to each other are usually part of the same continent.
