ICC Champions Trophy Winners List (1998-2025): Full List of Champions & Finalists

ICC Champions Trophy, often referred to as the “Mini World Cup,” was introduced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1998. Initially named the ICC Knockout Tournament, it was held every four years with the primary aim of generating funds for cricket in non-Test-playing nations. The first two editions took place in Kenya and Bangladesh. However, due to its growing commercial success, subsequent tournaments were hosted by major cricketing nations like England and India.

From the 2009 edition onwards, the format was revised to include only the top eight teams in the ICC ODI rankings, with the rankings cutoff set six months before the tournament. After the 2017 edition, the Champions Trophy was discontinued to streamline ICC events, ensuring only one global tournament per cricket format.

In a surprising move, the ICC announced in 2021 that the Champions Trophy would return, with editions scheduled for 2025 in Pakistan and 2029 in India. If India decides against playing in Pakistan, they will also refrain from participating in ICC events across the border.
