ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026: Schedule, Teams, Format and Venue
From June 12, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 set to start in England and it will mark the historic edition of the tournament with total 12 participating teams for the first time. This tournament will runs until 5th July and it will bring together the world’s best women’s cricket teams across the seven different iconic venues. As New Zealand the defending champions will try to retain their title, while host nation England, six time Champion Australia and 50 over World Cup winner India are also favorites to win the title.
England will host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 and it marking a significant milestone for the international women’s cricket.
For the first time in the tournament’s history total 12 teams will participate and compared to the nine teams in the inaugural edition in 2009 and ten teams in recent editions.
This expanded competition highlights the growing popularity of the women’s cricket and the International Cricket Council’s commitment to increasing the global participation.
The tournament will run from June 12 to July 5, 2026 and final will be played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will follow the group-stage and knockout format.
Total 12 participating teams have been divided into two groups of six teams each.
Every team will play against the other five teams in the group in Round-robin format.
Total top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
The winners of the semi-finals will advance to the final at Lord’s on 5th July, 2026.
This format ensures the more matches, increased competitiveness and the greater opportunities for emerging cricket nations.

The ICC has announced the total prize pool of $8.76 million (£6.52 million) for the 2026 tournament.
And it represents the 10% increase from the 2024 edition and it demonstrates the continued growth of women’s cricket.
