IIM Shillong and SIDBI Collaborate to Foster Northeast Entrepreneurship

In a significant step to bolster entrepreneurship in India’s Northeast, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has partnered with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). Through its IIM Shillong Foundation for Incubation and Enterprise (IIMSFIE), this collaboration introduces a structured entrepreneurship training and incubation programme.

Key Programme Highlights

  • Skill to Enterprise Model (STEM): This model aims to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with skills, knowledge, and mentorship essential for sustainable business creation.
  • 18-Month Training: Targeting 30 selected participants, the programme includes classroom learning, hands-on experience, and extensive incubation support.

Leadership Perspectives

  • Prof. DP Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, emphasized the initiative’s role in fostering regional economic growth.
  • Bhanu Prakash Verma, SIDBI’s North East Zone General Manager, affirmed SIDBI’s commitment to nurturing new talent and driving innovation in the region.
