Kishtwar National Park is situated in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in northern India. It is located about 40 kilometers from Kishtwar town in the Kishtwar district. The park lies in the Himalayan region and is known for its beautiful mountains, forests, rivers and rare wildlife like snow leopards and brown bear.
Kishtwar National Park was officially declared a national park on 4 February 1981. It was created to protect the forests, rivers, mountains and the animals that live there.
The park has rugged terrain, deep valleys and steep ridges. It lies in the Great Himalayan region and includes glaciers, rivers and rocky mountain slopes.
Several rivers and streams, like Kiar, Nath and Kibar Nalas, flow through the park. These joint he Marwah River, which later meets the Chenab River. The land is made of strong rocks like granite and marble, and the soil is shallow and slightly alkaline.
