India and Bosnia & Herzegovina Strengthen Ties at 4th Foreign Office Consultations
India and Bosnia & Herzegovina held the 4th Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Sarajevo, led by Arun Kumar Sahu, Additional Secretary (Central Europe) from India, and Tarik Bukvic, Head of the Department for Asia and Africa from Bosnia. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral political ties, trade and investment, scientific collaboration, cultural relations, and enhancing people-to-people connections through student and youth exchanges.
Both sides reviewed developments in their respective regions and addressed global issues, including multilateral cooperation through BRICS, the UN, EU, and NAM. The consultations are part of a broader effort to celebrate 30 years of diplomatic ties in 2025 and deepen multi-faceted relations.
Political and Economic Ties: Progress in bilateral relations and trade was reviewed, emphasizing new opportunities for investment and economic growth.
Scientific and Technological Collaboration: Both nations explored expanding partnerships in innovation and technology sharing.
Cultural and People-to-People Relations: Plans for student exchanges and tourism promotion were discussed to enhance mutual understanding and goodwill.
Multilateral Engagements: The consultations covered India’s and Bosnia’s roles in BRICS, the UN, and NAM, reflecting their commitment to global governance and regional stability.
Neighbourhood Updates: Both sides shared perspectives on developments in their immediate regions.
Additional Secretary Sahu held meetings with Bosnian officials, including advisors to the Chairwoman of the Presidency and Christian Schmidt, the High Representative. Both sides agreed to host the next FOC in New Delhi, reinforcing their commitment to deepening collaboration.
