India and Colombia Sign MoU on Digital Cooperation

India and Colombia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the field of Sharing Successful Digital Solutions Implemented at Population Scale for Digital Transformation. The agreement aims to foster digital transformation through the sharing of India’s open-sourced Digital Public Infrastructures (DPIs), particularly focusing on India Stack Solutions.

India and Colombia Strengthen Digital Cooperation: Key Points

1. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing

  • Signatories: Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti from India, and Mr. Mauricio Lizcano, Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of Colombia.
  • Exchange of Officials: The MoU facilitates the exchange of public officials and experts to enhance cooperation in digital transformation initiatives.

2. Objectives of the MoU:

  • Promotion of Digital Transformation: The MoU aims to promote digital transformation, specifically leveraging India Stack Solutions, through capacity-building programs and exchange of best practices.
  • Development of Pilot Solutions: Both countries will collaborate on the development of pilot or demo solutions to address digital challenges and enhance public service delivery.

3. Importance of Digital Public Infrastructures (DPIs):

  • Shared Digital Systems: DPIs are emphasized as secure and interoperable digital systems built on open standards to ensure equitable access to public and private services.
  • India Stack Solutions: India’s DPIs, implemented at population scale, are highlighted as exemplary models for providing access and delivery of public services.

4. Collaboration Areas:

  • Capacity Building: The MoU underscores capacity-building initiatives to facilitate the smooth adoption of Digital Public Infrastructure in Colombia.
