India got off to a quick start, posting 81/2 inside the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma was the batting sensation of the innings, scoring 61 from 28 balls with three fours and seven sixes.

The Indian batsmen slowed down the scoring rate with the introduction of the Pakistani spinners in the middle overs. However, Tilak Varma turned around the momentum at the end with his unbeaten 51 from 22 balls with three fours and four sixes.

Shivam Dube also hit 27 from 15 balls in quick time as India scored more than 200 runs and posted a total of 211/6.

Abhishek Sharma Scores Explosive 50

Abhishek Sharma was the main attacking batsman for India in the initial part of the innings.

Abhishek made 61 off 28 deliveries and struck seven maximums. His aggressiveness assisted the team to gain momentum in spite of the difficult and spinning pitch.

Abhishek’s batting also helped him to achieve another six hitting milestone. He equalled the record of Yuvraj Singh by hitting the most number of sixes by an Indian against Pakistan in T20 cricket.

Tilak Varma Ends Up the Innings on a High Note

Tilak Varma played an important role as a finisher in the end after India lost some wickets in the middle overs of the innings.

Initially, he focused on reading the conditions and then accelerated in the last few overs. His unbeaten 51 off 22 balls included three fours and four sixes.

Shivam Dube provided further impetus with 27 off 15 balls and assisted India in crossing 200 runs.

India scored 211/6 in 20 overs and posted their highest total in the game on Nisshin pitch.

Hasan Nawaz Led Pakistan’s Chase

Pakistan started its innings under pressure and lost wickets in the powerplay. India restricted Pakistan to 39/2 in six overs with the required run rate increasing.

Hasan Nawaz then played some good cricket and kept Pakistan alive with his wonderful inning. He scored 96 from 51 balls with five fours and seven sixes.

At one point in time, Pakistan needed 33 runs from the last six balls. Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah had bowled some crucial overs before that.

Shivam Dube Wins the Match for India

Dube was the bowler of the winning last over.

Though Nawaz was batting for Pakistan, the situation was very tough for him now.

Nawaz hit a six and ran two more runs, but Dube sent him back to pavilion on the last ball.

Nawaz made 96, while Pakistan was out of the run chase, with India clinching the Asian Games gold medal.

India’s Way to the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Final

India qualified for the final match by beating Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the semifinals.

India posted 169/7, with Ishan Kishan making an unbeaten 80 in just 46 balls.

The bowlers of India were able to bowl out Sri Lanka for just 45 runs in 9.5 overs. Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma each took two wickets for India.

Pakistan was in the finals after winning against Bangladesh by six wickets in the semi-final. Pakistan was able to chase Bangladesh’s 111/7 in 11.3 overs.

Hence, the final saw a clash between India and Pakistan for the Asian Games gold medal in men’s cricket. The ICC announced the final for October 3 at Nisshin before the match.

India’s Asian Games Cricket History

There have been several editions of the Asian Games that include cricket among their disciplines for both the men’s and women’s events.

In the year 2023, the men’s team of India won the gold medal in cricket in the Asian Games after winning on account of its superior T20I ranking as the match between India and Afghanistan was abandoned due to rains.

Thus, the year 2026 gives India yet another gold medal in the men’s cricket event of the Asian Games.

Moreover, the significance of the match in 2026 lies in the fact that it is contested by India and Pakistan.
