India Champions WHO’s Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034
At the 78th World Health Assembly held in Geneva under the theme “One World for Health”, India reaffirmed its commitment to integrating Traditional Medicine (TM) within mainstream healthcare systems. Representing India, Shri Arindam Bagchi, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, emphasized India’s leadership in advancing evidence-based traditional practices like Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, and Unani, welcoming the adoption of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034.
India participated in the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) in May 2025 and strongly supported the new WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy (2025–2034). The country also signed a Donor Agreement with WHO to develop a dedicated Traditional Medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI), furthering global integration of AYUSH systems.
