India Debuts at WorldSkills Asia 2025 with 23-Member Contingent

For the first time, India has officially joined the WorldSkills Asia Competition, a prestigious skills championship that brings together the best young professionals from across the continent. On November 24, 2025, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship flagged off a 23-member Indian contingent to participate in the event, set to take place in Chinese Taipei from November 27, 2025. This debut marks a major milestone in India’s mission to become the “Skill Capital of the World”, aligning with the government’s push to enhance global competitiveness through vocational excellence.

The Indian Delegation: 23 Competitors, 21 Experts

The Indian team comprises,

  • 23 candidates competing in 21 skill categories
  • 21 domain experts guiding and mentoring the candidates
  • These participants have undergone rigorous training and have been selected through a national screening process under the mentorship of industry specialists and Sector Skill Councils.

The event is being coordinated by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which leads the Indian contingent, while WorldSkills India serves as the implementation and knowledge partner.

WorldSkills Asia is a regional platform under the broader WorldSkills movement, which promotes vocational education and training (VET) excellence globally. Participants showcase their talent in trades like,
