India Metro Network Becomes World’s 3rd Largest Metro Network

India has now become the world’s third largest metro network in the world. And this is marking the major achievement in urban transport development in the country. The Union Minister Tokhan Sahu has announced that the India has been now operates over 1,143 km of metro lines. And it is with nearly 936 km under construction. This fast expansion of the metro reflects India’s commitment to modern infrastructure and efficient mobility solutions.

India Metro Network Expansion

India’s metro network growth has been rapid and transformative and it has expanding from just five cities in 2014 to 29 cities today.

This massive increase in the network highlights the government focus on improve urban mobility and reducing traffic and congestion.

This metro network now serves approximately 11.5 million passengers daily and which making it a backbone of public transport.

The Delhi Metro has played a huge role in shaping India’s metro network and setting global standards.

Since the launch in December 24 2002, Delhi metro has become a model for efficiency, punctuality and safety.

Government Push Behind India Metro Network Development

The rapid growth of the India metro network is largely driven by strong government support and policy initiatives.

This foundation was laid during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi metro expansion has accelerated significantly as per the minister said.

The focus has been on sustainable urban development, improved connectivity and it is reducing dependence on road transport.
