India Named Hosts for 2025 FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup

In a landmark decision, the Executive Board of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has designated India as the host country for the inaugural FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup featuring 24 teams, set to take place in December 2025. This decision underscores FIH’s commitment to expanding opportunities for National Associations and promoting diversity in the sport. FIH President Tayyab Ikram expressed enthusiasm for the expanded event format, emphasizing its significance in shaping the future of hockey. Hockey India’s President, Dr. Dilip Tirkey, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and highlighted India’s dedication to fostering hockey talent on a global stage. India, with its rich hockey legacy, has previously hosted the tournament thrice and clinched the title twice on home turf.

FIH Empowerment and Engagement Strategy

Under FIH’s Empowerment and Engagement strategy, the decision to increase the number of participating teams to 24 reflects a commitment to broadening the sport’s reach and inclusivity. President Tayyab Ikram emphasized the value of diversity showcased at recent events and expressed anticipation for the talent on display at the upcoming tournament.

Hockey India’s President, Dr. Dilip Tirkey, expressed delight at India being chosen to host the prestigious tournament, highlighting it as a testament to India’s growing significance in international hockey.
