In a significant announcement for regional sports development, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya declared that the Khelo India Northeast Games will be hosted annually, rotating among the eight northeastern states of India. The initiative aims to harness the region’s immense sporting talent and promote traditional games, further integrating the Northeast into the national sports landscape.
Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya made the announcement during the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025 in New Delhi. He emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming the region into a vibrant sports hub, aligning with national aspirations like hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games and 2036 Summer Olympics.
