India to Host Shooting World Cup in 2027 and Junior Worlds in 2028

India will host the Shooting World Cup in 2027 and the Junior World Championship in 2028, as announced by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on July 10, 2025. The decision was made by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). These events are a big step in making India a major center for global shooting competitions.

Big Boost for Indian Shooting

According to NRAI, India has been trusted with hosting major events,

  • Junior World Cup – September 2025
  • Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship – February 2026
  • Shooting World Cup – 2027
  • World Junior Championship – 2028

These events will help both junior and senior shooters gain international exposure while competing at home. Hosting such global-level matches will also bring international attention and development to the sport in India.

New Shooting League Announced

India will also introduce the first-ever Shooting League of India in November 2025, in Delhi. This league will feature top shooters from around the world competing in a unique and engaging format. The aim is to attract more fans, make shooting popular among youth, and encourage talent development across the country.

Official Reactions and Goals

Kalikesh Singh Deo, President of NRAI, said that hosting international events every year until the Los Angeles Olympics (2028) is a great opportunity for Indian shooters. It will help them train in high-level competitive environments. He added that the Shooting League will bring a fresh and exciting dimension to the sport.

Sultan Singh, Secretary General of NRAI, thanked the Government of India, Sports Ministry, and Sports Authority of India for their continuous support. He said India has now become a key destination on the international shooting calendar.
