The Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, has officially announced the notification of the Ratapani Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh as India’s 57th Tiger Reserve. This remarkable step emphasizes India’s commitment to tiger conservation and highlights the nation’s dedication to preserving its rich biodiversity.
Ratapani Tiger Reserve is now the 8th tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh, reaffirming the state’s title as the “Tiger State of India.”
Located in the forests of the Ratapani, Bhopal, and Sehore areas, the reserve boasts rich biodiversity and is home to the majestic tiger. Its designation as a tiger reserve will enhance wildlife management and provide a secure habitat for tigers and other wildlife species.
The notification of Ratapani as a tiger reserve brings with it a comprehensive plan for wildlife conservation. The following measures will be implemented to strengthen its management:
Standard Protection and Habitat Management
Ecotourism Development
Community Engagement
Madhya Pradesh, already a leader in tiger conservation, has once again reinforced its commitment with Ratapani joining the ranks of other renowned tiger reserves like Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, and Panna. The state now hosts eight tiger reserves, playing a pivotal role in India’s tiger conservation strategy.
India’s efforts have made it a global leader in tiger conservation. The country’s Project Tiger, launched in 1973, has expanded significantly over the years, providing critical protection to these endangered species. The addition of Ratapani as the 57th tiger reserve further strengthens this legacy.
The notification of the Ratapani Tiger Reserve is not just an achievement in terms of wildlife conservation; it also holds socio-economic importance.
