Indian football team for Asian Games 2023
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced the composition of a 22-player Indian men’s football squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China. Among the squad members, Striker Sunil Chhetri, goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, and defender Sandesh Jhingan stand out as the three senior players leading the team in the tournament.
The draw for the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 has placed the Indian men’s football team in Group A, alongside hosts China, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. While India is ranked 99th in the latest FIFA rankings, they will be the second-best ranked team in their group, with China leading the pack at 80th. Myanmar and Bangladesh are ranked 160th and 189th, respectively. It promises to be an exciting and challenging group, with India aiming to outperform their opponents and secure a spot in the knockout stages.
