In a remarkable display of skill and determination, 14-year-old Tanvi Patri from Odisha, India, has etched her name in the annals of badminton history. Patri clinched the women’s singles title at the prestigious Asian U-15 Junior Championships 2024, held in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, from August 20-25, 2024.
The final showdown saw top-seeded Patri face off against Vietnamese Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, the second seed of the tournament. In a gripping 34-minute encounter, Patri demonstrated her superior skills and mental fortitude, ultimately emerging victorious with a scoreline of 22-20, 21-11.
With this triumph, Tanvi Patri has become the third Indian to secure the Asian U-15 women’s singles title. She follows in the footsteps of two other talented Indian shuttlers:

Dattu’s journey came to an end in the semi-finals, where he faced eventual champion Indonesia’s Radithya Bayu Wardhana. The hard-fought match ended with a scoreline of 9-21, 21-13, 21-13 in favor of the Indonesian.
