Indian Women’s Hockey Team Wins FIH Nations Cup 2026, Earns Promotion to Pro League
The Indian women’s hockey team scripted the history after defeating the New Zealand 2-0 in the final of the FIH Nations Cup 2026 on 21st June, 2026. With this victory, India not only lifted the trophy but it also secured the FIH Pro League promotion and it is the highest level of the international hockey competition.
India captured the its second FIH Nations Cup crown after previously winning the inaugural edition of the tournament in the year 2022.
This latest triumph highlights the team’s continued progress and determination to re-establish itself as the among the world’s elite hockey nations.
Throughout this tournament, India remained as the undefeated and displayed remarkable balance between attack and defense.
New Zealand began the match aggressively and it attempted to dominate possession in the opening minutes.
However, India struck first via Navneet Kaur who have converted a penalty corner in the fourth minute with the powerful finish.
The early goal has boosted the India’s confidence and momentum. The team continued to press forward and earned the multiple penalty corners during the first quarter.
India had doubled the its advantage in the 15th minute when Sunelita Toppo brilliantly deflected the drag flick from Deepika into the net.
The goal gave India a commanding 2-0 lead heading into the second quarter of the match.
