IPS Nalin Prabhat Set to Take Charge as DGP of J&K from October 1

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) appointed IPS Nalin Prabhat as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir. He is set to assume charge from October 1. Till then, he will work as the Special Director-General (DG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

  • Prabhat is a 1992-batch Indian Police Service officer.

  • He has an extensive background in counter-insurgency operations and previously led the Greyhounds, a highly specialized anti-Naxal unit in Andhra Pradesh.
  • His experience includes significant roles within the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), where he served as Inspector General of Operations and Additional Director General in the Kashmir region.
