Udhayanidhi Stalin Took Oath as Deputy CM of TamilNadu

The Chief Minister of TamilNadu M. K. Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin took the oath as the new Deputy Chief Minister of the state. The cabinet reshuffle and several members were also changed.

Who is Udhayanidhi?

  • Grandson of Late Karunanidhi and son of CM of TamilNadu Stalin.
  • Udhayanidhi Stalin (born 27 November 1977) is an Indian politician.
  • Also film producer and former actor serving as the 3rd and current Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
  • He is the youngest person in Tamil Nadu to have ever held the position.
  • He has also been the Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development in Tamil Nadu since December 2022.

Political career

  • In 2019, Udhayanidhi made his entrance into politics by being appointed as the Youth wing Secretary of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party under the guidance of his father, chief minister of Tamil Nadu M.K. Stalin.
  • Udhayanidhi Stalin contested and won in the Chepauk – Thiruvallikeni Assembly Constituency in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election.
  • Also previously serving as the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development.
  • In his new role, he will also oversee the planning and development portfolio, in addition to his current responsibilities.

A Film Producer

  • Udhayanidhi’s first film as a producer with Red Giant Movies was Kuruvi (2008), starring Vijay and Trisha.
  • He also produced two films directed by K. S. Ravikumar, Aadhavan (2009) and Manmadhan Ambu (2010).

  • V. Senthil Balaji (Karur Assembly Constituency): Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise (Electricity and Non-Conventional Energy Development, Prohibition & Excise)
  • Govi Chezhiaan (Thiruvidaimarudur Assembly Constituency): Minister for Higher Education (Higher Education including Technical Education, Electronics, Science and Technology.)
  • R Rajendran (Salem North Assembly Constituency): Minister for Tourism (Tourism and Sugar, Sugarcane Excise and Sugarcane Development.
  • S M Nasar (Avadi Assembly Constituency): Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare (Minorities Welfare, Non-Resident Tamils Welfare, Refugees & Evacuees and Wakf Board.)
