ISSF Junior World Cup 2026: India Leads Medal Tally with 16 Medals in Cairo
India has delivered the strong performance at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2026 in the Cairo, Egypt. India currently at the top of the medal tally with the total of 16 medals. The Indian contingent have secured five gold, six silver and five bronze medals and underlined the country’s growing strength in to the shooting sports on the global stage.
One of the standout performer came from the Hemant Burman who have clinched the silver medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event.
The 18-year-old scored the 351.7 in the final and showcased the exceptional composure and skill.
Burman had qualified for the finals in to the seventh place with a score of 578-24x but he has elevated his performance when it mattered the most.
The gold medal in this event was won by the Oleg Noskov who have set the new junior world record with 355.6, while Nikita Solokov secured bronze.
Also the other Indian participants like Vedant Waghmare and Rohit Kanyan also reached the finals but they was finished sixth and seventh respectively.
India have added another medal in the Trap Mixed Team event where the duo of the Zuhair Khan and Addya Katyal secured a bronze medal.
The pair had initially been in the strong contention for silver medal but faced the challenging final series which have pushed them down to third place with a score of 19.
In the 50m Rifle Prone Women event the Indian shooters including Tejal Nathawat, Yugeshwari Bais, Anushka Thokur and Khwaish Sharma could not secure the podium finishes.
This was a setback but the the overall performance of the Indian contingent has been remained dominant with the consistent medal-winning efforts across multiple categories.
The focus will now shifts to the upcoming ISSF Junior World Championship which are scheduled to be held in Suhl in the Germany in month of June.
This event will be important platform for the Indian shooters to build on their current form and prepare for the future senior-level international competitions, including the Olympics.
