Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron Launch Global Maritime Security Initiative for Strait of Hormuz
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the French President Emmanuel Macron jointly launched the new international initiative which is aimed at to securing the Strait of Hormuz which is one of the world’s most crucial shipping routes. The virtual meeting was attended by around the 40 countries including India and comes at the time of instable peace in the Middle East. As the global energy supplies heavily dependent on this route this initiative seeks to ensure the safe navigation and protect the commercial shipping.
The initiative which is formally called the Strait of Hormuz Maritime Freedom of Navigation Initiative and it is designed to strengthen the international cooperation to safeguarding maritime routes.
