Major General G. Srinivas Takes Charge as Commandant of CDM, Secunderabad
Major General G. Srinivas has officially assumed charge as the Commandant of the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad. He takes over from Lieutenant General Harsh Chhibber, who has been promoted to the position of Director General Information Systems.
Prior to his appointment at CDM, Major General Srinivas was entrusted with the planning and execution of operational logistics in the Western Command theatre. His responsibilities included overseeing the logistical framework during Operation Sindoor, a critical military operation, where his efforts ensured the smooth movement of supplies, coordination of resources, and support to troops in forward areas.
Operation Sindoor tested the Indian Army’s ability to execute large-scale logistical operations in challenging terrains, and Major General Srinivas’s leadership was instrumental in ensuring efficiency and timely execution.
The College of Defence Management (CDM), located in Secunderabad, is a premier tri-services institution under the Integrated Defence Staff. It provides advanced management training to senior officers of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. CDM plays a crucial role in grooming officers to deal with the complexities of modern warfare, strategic leadership, and resource optimization.
The institution focuses on blending management principles with defence strategies, preparing officers for leadership roles in multi-domain warfare, joint operations, and technological transformation in the armed forces.
His appointment as Commandant of CDM is expected to further modernize and strengthen the training curriculum, particularly in areas of logistics, technology integration, and defence resource management.
By taking charge at CDM, Major General Srinivas now shoulders the responsibility of leading an institution that shapes the strategic leadership backbone of the Indian Armed Forces. His vast operational experience, coupled with expertise in logistics, is likely to bring fresh perspectives in defence education, joint-service coordination, and future readiness.
This leadership transition also marks a significant moment for CDM, as it continues its mission of equipping officers with the knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges of a rapidly evolving security environment.
