Architectural designs by Marina Tabassum are renowned for eschewing commercialism and firmly enshrining environmental considerations. One of Marina Tabassum‘s numerous well-known creations is the Bait Ur Rouf mosque in Dhaka. The mosque “stands out for its absence of typical mosque iconography, concentration on materials, space, and light, and its capacity to act not only as a place of worship but also as a centre for its underserved population on Dhaka’s outskirts.” Marina Tabassum has also created bamboo huts that are “minimal impact, movable housing that can be delivered at the lowest cost possible” for the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya, close to Cox’s Bazar.
