Moldova Becomes 107th Member of International Solar Alliance,
The Republic of Moldova has officially joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA) as its 107th member, further strengthening the global coalition’s commitment to sustainable solar energy development. The announcement was made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) following a ceremonial ratification in New Delhi.
The International Solar Alliance, launched in 2015 by India and France at the COP21 Climate Summit in Paris, aims to mobilize solar energy investments, lower technology and financing costs, and promote sustainable energy across developing and developed countries.
During a formal meeting in New Delhi, Ambassador of Moldova to India, Ana Taban, handed over the Instrument of Ratification to P. S. Gangadhar, Joint Secretary (Economic Diplomacy) and Head of Depository at the ISA. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), along with photos from the meeting.
The ISA focuses on promoting solar energy applications across key sectors such as,
The alliance acts as a platform for policy collaboration, sharing of best practices, standardization, and investment mobilization among its member countries.
By joining the ISA, Moldova gains access to technical assistance, financial support frameworks, and multilateral partnerships to scale up its domestic solar energy capacity. As a European country with increasing climate commitments, Moldova’s entry into ISA reflects a growing global consensus on solar energy as a key driver of the clean energy transition.
India, as the founding nation of ISA, continues to lead global advocacy for solar energy, aligning with its own ambitious renewable energy targets. The country plays a central role in capacity building, knowledge sharing, and regional cooperation through ISA’s activities.
