NABARD & NIRCA Launch Training for Chilli, Turmeric Farmers on Post-Harvest Tech
In a collaborative move to improve the post-harvest value chain of major spice crops, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the National Institute for Research on Commercial Agriculture (ICAR-NIRCA) have launched a training initiative for Farmers’ Producers Organisations (FPOs) and individual farmers in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. The training will focus on post-harvest management and advanced processing technologies for turmeric and chilli—two crops critical to the region’s agricultural economy.
The initiative was announced on June 25, 2025, during an interaction programme conducted at the NIRCA campus in Rajamahendravaram, where officials from both NABARD and NIRCA emphasized the importance of scientific handling and storage to reduce losses, prevent contamination, and enhance the market value of turmeric and chilli.
