NCERT rolls out PRASHAST 2.0 for early identification of disabilities in schools
To make the India’s education inclusive PRASHAST 2.0 is launched by NCERT. It is a modern tool which is designed to identify disabilities in school children at an early stage. This system is the upgradation of earlier version and this platform will helps the teachers and schools to detect learning and developmental challenges efficiently. PRASHAST 2.0 will ensures that no child is left behind in the education system.
PRASHAST 2.0 (Pre-Assessment Holistic Screening Tool) is the digital screening platform and which is developed by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
It allows the Teachers, principals and the special educators and it will screen children for 21 types of disabilities as it is defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. This tool is available in the mobile and web formats which making it accessible across schools in India.
The main goal of PRASHAST 2.0 is to ensure the early detection of disabilities so that no child is left due to absence of proper schooling tools. By identifying the issues at an early stage this platform enables timely intervention, educational adjustments and also access to the government support systems. It will play the key role in linking children benefits under the Samagra Shiksha program.
PRASHAST 2.0 follows the structured two-level screening process which allows the both general teachers and specialized professionals to participate effectively.
In the first stage, regular teachers conduct the initial screening based on classroom observations by using the objective questions related to student behavior and learning patterns.
In the second stage the special educators, counselors or school heads will carry out a more detailed assessment to validate and refine the findings.
This combined approach have to ensures the accuracy while maintaining ease of implementation.
One of the most important features of PRASHAST 2.0 is the its integration with national data systems like UDISE+, APAAR ID and the Swavlamban Card Portal.
This will allows the seamless tracking of the student data, screening outcomes and intervention measures.
This platform also generates the standardized school-level reports which are crucial for initiating the formal disability certification process for the Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
The PRASHAST 2.0 aligns closely with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020. This will have strong emphasize on inclusive, equitable and technology-driven education. By bridging the gap between the classroom observations and formal solutions this tool ensures that children should receive timely support. It also contributes the building a data-driven education system, which enables the better policy decisions and resource allocation.
