Neem Summit & Global Neem Trade Fair: Promoting Sustainable Solutions

The Neem Summit & Global Neem Trade Fair, held in New Delhi on 19-20 February 2024, is a collaborative effort between ICAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute, Jhansi, and various stakeholders. The event aims to showcase the multifaceted uses of neem in agriculture, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.

Inauguration and Trade Fair Highlights

  • Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary of DARE and DG of ICAR, inaugurated the Trade Fair.
  • 22 companies from India and abroad participated, presenting their neem-based products.
  • Approximately 250 participants attended, including 10 from overseas.

Seminar Theme

  • The overarching theme is “Neem for Sustainable Agriculture, Health, and Environment.”
  • Emphasis on neem’s potential in sustaining industry raw material needs and its role in carbon farming.

Program Highlights

  • Features 7 technical sessions covering various aspects of neem research and development.
  • Discussion topics include neem’s societal and industrial applications.

Publications and Documentary

  • Release of the Souvenir, WNO Calendar, and a Technical Bulletin titled “Neem Field Gene Bank – Provisioning Opportunities for Conservation and Utilization.”
  • Launch of the WNO Documentary aimed at promoting awareness about neem’s significance and applications.
