Neeraj Chopra and Yash Vir Singh Deliver Historic Javelin Double Podium at CWG 2026

Neeraj Chopra clinched a silver medal while Yash Vir Singh won bronze in men’s javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026, its a historic double podium finish for the nation. Their outstanding performance has helped to achieve 23 medals (5 Gold, 12 Silver, and 6 Bronze) for India and India maintain 10th position in medal standings. Neeraj Chopra Clinched Silver in Men’s Javelin Throw

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra entered into the finals as one of the leading contestants and again proved his consistency at the international level.

Neeraj had the best throw of the season which was recorded at 85.83 metres. Neeraj bagged silver after registering a number of successful throws under tough climatic conditions.

In spite of missing the gold narrowly, Neeraj was able to prove that he is still one of the top javelin throwers in the world.

The gold was secured by Rumesh Pathirage from Sri Lanka who threw a record-breaking distance of 89.75 metres.

Yash Vir Singh Creates History with Bronze

With his bronze medal, Yash Vir Singh has made a world record.

With the age of just 24, he achieved a personal best of 85.41 m with his last throw to place third and contribute to the India’s spectacular achievement in men’s javelin throw.

Still competing against some of the best talent in the world, including former champions, Yash managed to maintain his composure and prove his mettle among the upcoming Indian athletes.

The achievement also evidences that India is slowly gaining ground in the men’s javelin throw discipline of athletics with two Indian athletes making it to the podium.
