Cabinet Approves Continuation of PM-KISAN Scheme Till 2030-31 with ₹3.15 Lakh Crore Outlay
The Union Cabinet has given its nod to the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme, it reaffirms the government’s promise to bring about farmers welfare and provide support for rural development. As per the approval, the scheme will cost ₹3.15 lakh crore and will continue providing for ₹6,000 annually for eligible landholding families. It was implemented in the year 2019, PM-KISAN became the largest of the income support schemes in India, assisting farmers in implementing their agricultural activities, lowering reliance on informal credit, and helping them earn a living in a transparent and technology-based manner.
The PM-KISAN scheme is a scheme implemented by the government of India in February 2019 to facilitate income support to farmers.
Under this program, farmers will receive ₹ 6,000 directly into their bank accounts.
This program employs various means to keep the fund disbursal process transparent and efficient.
The Union Cabinet has decided to extend the PM-KISAN scheme for another period of five years (from 2026 to 2030).
The financial provision for the scheme amounts to a total of ₹3.15 lakh crore till this period so as to provide uninterrupted income assistance to eligible farmers.
This initiative highlights the seriousness of the government in matters of farmers’ income, investment in agriculture, and rural economy as a whole.
