Nita Ambani Unveils India House at Paris 2024 Olympics
Nita Ambani, IOC member and founder of the Reliance Foundation, inaugurated the India House during the Paris 2024 Olympics on July 27. This marks India’s first-ever country house at the Olympics, highlighting a significant milestone in India’s Olympic journey. In her speech, Ambani celebrated the occasion as a representation of India’s Olympic ambitions and expressed hope for India to host the Games in the future.
Ambani described the India House as a symbol of India’s Olympic aspirations, aiming to serve as a “home away from home” for athletes and a celebration of their achievements. She underscored the potential of this initiative to be a turning point for India, reflecting on the historic Olympic flame’s journey from Athens to potentially lighting up in India.
The grand opening ceremony of India House, held the day after the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony, was marked by a traditional lamp-lighting ritual performed by Ambani. Key dignitaries included Ser Miang Ng (IOC Committee member), PT Usha (President, Indian Olympic Association), Jawed Ashraf (Ambassador of India to France), Jay Shah (Honorary Secretary of BCCI), and Abhinav Bindra (Olympic Gold Medallist).
India House, situated at Parc de la Villette in the Park of Nations, will operate daily from 11 am to 11 pm throughout the Olympics, from July 27 to August 11. The venue offers an immersive experience with yoga sessions, cultural workshops, traditional crafts, and exclusive events such as panel discussions and celebrations of Indian athletes’ victories. The opening event featured performances by Bollywood star Shaan and traditional Indian music, along with a demonstration of Mallakhamb by visually impaired children.
Entry to India House is priced at €5 per person, promising a vibrant experience of Indian culture and Olympic spirit.
