Nitin Nabin is a well-known political leader from Bihar and a prominent face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Coming from a respected political family, he has built his own identity through hard work, discipline, and public service. Over the years, he has become one of the most influential young leaders in Indian politics. His rise from a local MLA to the National President of BJP reflects a major generational change in the party.
Nitin Nabin was born on 23 May 1980 in Patna, Bihar. His father, Late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, was a senior BJP leader and a former MLA from the Bankipur area. His mother is Meera Sinha. Growing up in a political environment, Nitin learned the values of leadership and public service at an early age.
He completed his 12th-grade education from C.S.K.M. Public School in Delhi in 1998. Although his formal education ended at the intermediate level, his real training came from years of political work at the grassroots level.
After the death of his father, Nitin Nabin stepped into active politics. In 2006, he contested a by-election from Patna West, now known as Bankipur, and won. This victory marked the beginning of his long political journey.
He became actively involved in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP. His dedication and leadership skills helped him rise quickly. He served as:
Through these roles, he worked closely with youth, organized campaigns, and strengthened the party’s presence in different states.
Nitin Nabin has shown remarkable consistency in elections. He has been elected as MLA from the Bankipur constituency four times:
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, he defeated Luv Sinha by a large margin of over 39,000 votes. In November 2025, he again won the Bankipur seat with 98,299 votes, defeating RJD candidate Rekha Kumari by more than 51,000 votes. These repeated victories show the trust people place in him.
Nitin Nabin has handled several important responsibilities in the Bihar government. He has served as:
As Road Construction Minister, he focused on improving connectivity and road quality across the state. In Urban Development and Housing, he worked on better living conditions in cities. He also supported social welfare steps such as increasing pensions for journalists and providing better incentives to ASHA and Mamta workers.
In November 2025, after the new government was formed, he took oath as a cabinet minister once again.
A major turning point came on 14 December 2025, when the BJP’s parliamentary board appointed Nitin Nabin as the National Working President of the party. This decision highlighted the party’s confidence in young leadership.
In January 2026, he was elected unopposed as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He officially assumed office on 20 January 2026. With this, he became the youngest person to lead India’s largest political party, marking a historic generational shift in BJP leadership.
Nitin Nabin is married to Dr. Deepmala Shrivastava, who works as a bank manager at SBI in Patna. Despite his busy political life, he maintains a simple lifestyle and remains closely connected to the people of his constituency.
His financial profile reflects a transparent public record, as required of elected representatives.
Nitin Nabin actively participated in youth movements such as the National Unity Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. He also took part in a tribute march from Guwahati to Tawang for the martyrs of 1965. These experiences shaped his strong nationalist outlook and leadership style.
