NTPC Ltd., India’s largest integrated power utility, celebrated its 50th Raising Day, marking five decades of pioneering growth, innovation, and sustainable energy development. Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, led the celebrations at the Engineering Office Complex in Noida, with employees across the country joining virtually. This milestone reflects NTPC’s commitment to powering India’s energy needs and its ongoing evolution in clean energy technologies.
NTPC introduced hydrogen-powered buses, soon to operate in Leh, as part of its initiative to advance clean and green energy solutions.
A major milestone was achieved with NTPC’s successful synthesis of CO2 captured from flue gas, combined with hydrogen from a PEM electrolyzer, to create methanol at the Vindhyachal plant. This groundbreaking CO2-to-methanol plant is the first of its kind globally.
NTPC continues to push boundaries with advancements in Gen-4 ethanol, green urea, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), while also testing indigenous catalysts for methanol synthesis and progressing in hydrogen and carbon capture technologies.
NTPC launched a new logo symbolizing its 50-year legacy, featuring an infinity loop to reflect the company’s commitment to sustainable growth and limitless possibilities.
On the occasion, the achievements of NTPC employees’ children were celebrated, along with the release of a comic book on the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), which has benefited over 10,000 rural girls through the company’s CSR program.
CMD Gurdeep Singh honored the visionary leadership of NTPC’s founders, including Dr. DV Kapoor, emphasizing the company’s resilience in becoming a strong performer and its continued mission to power India’s future with sustainable energy.
