Odisha Launches India’s First MICE Incentive Portal

The Odisha government has launched what it described as India’s first dedicated MICE Incentive Portal to promote the state as a destination for business tourism, corporate events and investment.

The portal was launched by Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the Tourism portfolio, during the Odisha Travel Bazaar 2026.

What is MICE Tourism?

MICE stands for:

• M – Meetings
• I – Incentives
• C – Conferences
• E – Exhibitions

MICE tourism refers to organised travel for professional, commercial, corporate and networking purposes.

Objective of the Portal

The MICE Incentive Portal has been introduced to:

• Promote Odisha as a destination for corporate conventions
• Simplify applications for financial incentives
• Help event organisers and tourism operators access government support
• Attract more business events and investments
• Improve ease of approvals for tourism-related projects

According to the state government, Odisha has become the first state in India to create a dedicated digital mechanism for marketing MICE destinations and streamlining incentive applications.

The Odisha government is also working to speed up approvals for:

• MICE events
• Destination weddings
• Sports events
• Cultural and heritage-related tourism projects

The state is also promoting experiential tourism, including temple weddings, local cultural experiences and regional cuisine tours.

Bhubaneswar as a Key Destination

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida highlighted Bhubaneswar, popularly known as the “Temple City”, as an important destination for heritage-based and cultural events.

Its historic temples, monuments and cultural attractions can help the city emerge as a preferred location for destination events and tourism experiences.

Support for Tourism Investment

The Odisha government has said it will:

• Consider recommendations from the private sector
• Address administrative bottlenecks
• Facilitate faster project approvals
• Provide targeted capital subsidies to attract investment in tourism
