One Health Joint Plan of Action: Key Points

  • A sustainable balance and optimization of the health of people, animals, plants, and ecosystems are the goals of the comprehensive, unified approach known as “One Health.”
  • It is the main strategy for solving the numerous health issues that our civilization is currently confronting, including ecosystem degradation, problems with the food system, infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
  • The One Health Joint Plan of Action, which was created through a participatory process, offers a series of initiatives that are meant to improve coordination, cooperation, communication, and capacity building.
  • These will be equally relevant to all industries involved in solving health issues.
  • The strategy, which is applicable from 2022 to 2026, aims to lessen the health issues at the international, regional, and national levels.

One Health Joint Plan of Action: Areas of Concern

  • The One Health Joint Plan of Action concentrated on six major areas, including: One Health capability for health systems, Emerging and re-emerging zoonotic epidemics, Endemic zoonotic, Neglected tropical and vector-borne illnesses, Antimicrobial resistance and the environment, and Food safety hazards.
  • Action Track 5 focuses on containing the silent AMR pandemic, which poses a serious threat to people, animals, plants, food, and the environment.
  • One Health Joint Plan of Action has been outlined in the plan to maintain antimicrobial effectiveness.
  • It also concentrated on ensuring that antimicrobials had been described for responsible and judicious use in human, animal, and plant health.
