Oscar Piastri Win His First Formula One Title At The Hungarian GP

The Australian Formula 1 (F1) racer Oscar Piastri secured his first-ever F1 title victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix . The Australian rookie led a strong McLaren one-two finish alongside the British-Belgian racer Lando Norris. However, the race became dramatic when team orders late in the race saw Norris give up the lead, overshadowing the celebration.

About Oscar Piastri

Oscar Jack Piastri (born 6 April 2001) is an Australian racing driver currently competing in Formula One for McLaren. Graduating from karting to junior formulae in 2016, Piastri won his first championship at the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup with R-ace GP.

His achievement

He then won both the 2020 FIA Formula 3 and 2021 Formula 2 championships back-to-back with Prema Racing, becoming the sixth driver in history to win the GP2/Formula 2 championship in their rookie season. He is the only driver in history to win Formula Renault, Formula Three, and Formula Two (or equivalent) championships in successive seasons

McLaren’s pit stop strategy

The drama began with McLaren’s pit stop strategy during the second round of stops. Norris was brought in first to cover off Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who was mounting a significant challenge from behind. This decision saw Norris rejoin the track ahead of Piastri, much to the Australian’s frustration.
