Prime Minister Modi commended her efforts and highlighted the significant price difference, where medicines available for 100 rupees in the market are often priced at 10 to 50 rupees in the Jan Aushadhi kendra.
In a groundbreaking collaboration, the government has allowed 2000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to open Pradhan Mantri Bhartiyam Jan Aushadhi Kendras. This initiative aims to merge healthcare accessibility and agricultural prosperity, creating a comprehensive approach to community well-being.
Sona Mishra, a beneficiary of the Jan Aushadhi Yojana, shared his excellence of saving approximately 10,000 rupees per month by purchasing medicines at discounted prices from the Kendras. Prime Minister Modi encouraged him to spread awareness by displaying his positive experiences through a board at his shop, emphasizing the importance of sharing success stories to promote the initiative.
The government had initially set a target to establish 10,000 Jan Aushadhi kendras by March 2024, but this goal was achieved ahead of schedule. Prime Minister Modi, in his Independence Day speech in 2023, announced a new target of opening 25,000 Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras by March 2026, reflecting the commitment to expanding healthcare accessibility.
Launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, PMBJP aims to make quality generic medicines available at affordable prices. With more than 9900 functional Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country, the scheme covers a wide range of medicines and surgical devices, ensuring inclusivity in healthcare services.
