PM Modi Inaugurates ₹13,430 Cr Projects in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh

On a landmark visit to Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid foundation stones, and dedicated to the nation development projects worth approximately ₹13,430 crore on October 16, 2025. These multi-sectoral initiatives aim to transform Andhra Pradesh into a key pillar of India’s economic and technological future, with major announcements spanning energy, transport, defence, and digital connectivity.

Key Projects Across Strategic Sectors

The projects launched cover a wide range of critical sectors,

  • Power Transmission and Energy: Supporting India’s clean energy goals, new infrastructure will improve grid stability and rural electrification.
  • Roads and Railways: Enhancements in regional connectivity are expected to reduce travel time, boost trade, and increase access to remote areas.
  • Defence Manufacturing: Strengthening the “Make in India” mission, new defence-related facilities are set to attract advanced manufacturing investments.
  • Petroleum and Natural Gas: Projects in this sector aim to meet growing energy demands while reducing dependency on imports.
  • Digital Infrastructure: Major announcements position Andhra Pradesh as a future tech hub, with long-term digital economy benefits.

Focus on Rayalaseema and Economic Impact

  • The Prime Minister emphasized the strategic importance of Rayalaseema in India’s development story. He highlighted that regional prosperity would lead to national strength, underlining the government’s commitment to inclusive growth.
  • He also pointed to the positive financial outcomes of GST reforms, revealing that Andhra Pradesh is expected to save over ₹8,000 crore, boosting consumer sentiment and enabling public spending during the festive season.
  • Modi urged citizens to participate in the “GST Bachat Festival” to raise awareness of these benefits.

Kurnool: India’s Emerging Drone Hub

Modi applauded Andhra Pradesh’s push to develop Kurnool as a Drone Hub, spotlighting the success of drone technologies during Operation Sindoor.

He noted that the drone sector would open doors to cutting-edge industries such as,

  • Precision agriculture
  • Disaster response
  • Surveillance and logistics
  • Urban planning and mapping

This step aligns with India’s ambition to lead in advanced unmanned systems by 2047.

Visakhapatnam: India’s First AI and Connectivity Hub

The Prime Minister also announced plans to transform Visakhapatnam into India’s first Artificial Intelligence and Connectivity Hub.

Key components include,

  • Establishing a national-level AI innovation centre
  • Development of a new subsea internet gateway by Google, boosting international data connectivity
  • Infrastructure to support cloud computing, digital services, and AI startups
  • These projects are set to place Andhra Pradesh at the heart of India’s digital revolution.
