The newly rolled-out railway projects include the Digaru-Lumding and Gauripur-Abhayapuri sections, as well as the doubling of tracks between New Bongaigaon and Dhup Dhara.
Furthermore, Modi launched the electrification of the Raninagar-Jalpaiguri-Guwahati, Senchoa-Silghat, and Senchoa-Mairabari sections. The total cost of these projects is estimated to be Rs 7,300 crore.
In addition to the railway projects, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Palasbari-Sualkuchi bridge over the Brahmaputra River. The construction of the bridge, which will cost an estimated Rs 3,200 crore, is expected to take 3-4 years. The state government has already obtained the necessary environmental and other clearances to begin construction work.
Modi also virtually commissioned a methanol plant in Namrup, Dibrugarh, constructed by Assam Petrochemicals Ltd (APL) with a capacity of 500 tonnes per day (TPD), and an investment of Rs 1,709 crore. The Assam government holds a 51 percent stake in the plant, while Oil India owns 49 percent. Following commissioning, APL will have the ability to sell methanol to other states and export it to neighboring countries.
Modi’s fourth project launch during his visit was the Rs 124-crore beautification work of the ‘Rang Ghar,’ an amphitheatre constructed by Ahom King Pramatta Singha in the 18th century. This two-story oval-shaped pavilion, located in Sivasagar, is among the largest amphitheatres in Asia.
