PM Modi To Inaugurate Fourth Terminal At Cherlapally

Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Development of Northeast Region, G. Kishan Reddy, revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the upcoming fourth terminal at Cherlapally, Telangana towards the end of the month or in the first week of March.

Completion of MMTS Phase-II Suburban Railway Services

  • Minister Reddy also mentioned that the MMTS Phase-II suburban railway services will soon be completed, with the last remaining section between Sanathnagar and Moula Ali expected to be ready by the end of the month.

State Government’s Role and Extension Plans

  • Minister Reddy also announced plans for the extension of the MMTS line from Ghatkesar to Yadadri, with survey works already underway and tenders set to be called.
  • Reddy expressed his intention to discuss the matter with the State Government to seek their cooperation.

Modernization Efforts at Secunderabad Railway Station

  • Minister Reddy highlighted the ongoing redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station is costing approximately ₹700 crore.
  • He commended the progress made since the commencement of works in November 2022, with IIT-Delhi serving as the proof-checking consultant and Stup Consultants conducting third-party checks.

Modernization Plans for Secunderabad Railway Station

  • Once completed, the modern station aims to resemble an airport, featuring segregated arrivals and departures, food courts, passenger lounges, disabled-friendly facilities, and eco-friendly structures.
  • The station will facilitate multi-modal integration with Secunderabad’s east and west metro stations and the bus station through skywalks, eliminating the need to navigate through the roads.

Key Features of Secunderabad Railway Station Upgrade

  • The modernization project includes the installation of 26 lifts, 32 escalators, two travelators, multi-level parking, foot overbridges, and other amenities.
  • The demolition of existing structures and the relocation of offices are being carried out in phases to accommodate the station’s continuous operation. The revamped station is expected to be completed by November 2025.

Foundation Stone for Komuravelli Railway Station

  • Reddy also announced plans to lay the foundation stone for a railway station at Komuravelli soon.
  • He emphasized that once the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) is constructed, these railway stations will facilitate convenient travel for passengers to suburbs and districts without needing to pass through the city center.
