PM Modi to Launch 'Bima Sakhi Yojana' in Haryana on 9th December
On 9th December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ in Panipat, Haryana, aimed at empowering women by creating job opportunities in the insurance sector. Under this scheme, women will become agents of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), enabling them to sell insurance and earn an income. This initiative is part of the broader efforts to promote women’s empowerment and economic independence.
The ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ will be a milestone in empowering women across India. Women selected under the scheme will work as LIC agents, offering insurance services in their communities. This will not only generate employment for women but also promote financial literacy and security.
Prime Minister Modi has a strong association with Haryana, often choosing it as the launching ground for significant initiatives. The state’s history with Modi’s campaigns, including the launch of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ movement from Panipat in 2015, sets a precedent for his continued commitment to women’s welfare. Haryana, known for its focus on women’s rights, will once again play a key role in driving social change.
Haryana’s Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, highlighted that this initiative would further strengthen the state’s legacy of empowering women. The ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ will add to the state’s portfolio of successful women-centered policies and reflect the growing focus on inclusive growth. The government’s emphasis on ‘Nari Shakti’ was reinforced through efforts like the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Bill’ passed in the Lok Sabha, granting women 33% reservation.
The ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ continues PM Modi’s track record of initiating women-centric schemes, following the success of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and ‘Namo Didis’ programs. His persistent drive for women’s empowerment is evident in various policies and legislative changes aimed at strengthening women’s roles in society and the economy.
