Postmaster General Yadav Marks the Start of National Postal Week

The Department of Posts is making significant strides in expanding its service horizons by leveraging innovative technologies and services to connect with citizens across the country, especially in rural and remote areas. During the inauguration of ‘National Postal Week’ at the Regional PMG office in Ahmedabad.

Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, highlighted the continued relevance of traditional mail in an age dominated by digital communication.

Wide Range of Services offered by Post

  • India Post offers a range of services designed to meet the specific needs of various business sectors, such as Speed Post, Business Parcel, Dakghar Niryat Kendra, Business Post, Media Post, Bill Mail Service, Retail Post, Logistics Post, Direct Post, e-Post, e-Payment, Aadhaar services, and Passport services

Focus on Exports

  • Establishment of Dakghar Niryat Kendras (DNK) as one-stop solutions to promote commercial exports through postal channels.
  • Support for products from One District One Product (ODOP), Geographical Indications (GI), and MSMEs, fostering “Vocal for Local” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.

  • He emphasized on the ease and efficiency of the postal network in connecting local entrepreneurs to global markets.
  • He said that special sorting hubs and nodal delivery centers have been established for sorting and distribution of Speed Post and Business Parcels.
  • The Department of Posts is rolling out various innovations to enhance mail and parcel services.
  • Introduction of services like Speed Post, Business Parcel, Dakghar Niryat Kendra, and others designed to meet diverse business needs.

Technological Advancements

  • Implementation of online tracking and tracing facilities for postal items.
  • Development of a new transport policy for the rapid transmission of mail and parcels.
  • Joint launch of ‘Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service‘ in collaboration with Indian Railways.
  • International Mail Services

Establishment of Foreign 

  • Post Office in Shahibaug and International Business Center in Surat for quick transmission of international mail.
  • On-spot customs clearance services available for international parcels, covering over 200 destination countries and regions worldwide.

  • The inauguration program was compered by Marketing Executive Shri Chirayu Vyas, with contributions from Assistant Director Shri M.M. Shaikh and Assistant Superintendent Shri Ravindra Parmar.
  • Attendance included Director of Postal Services Ms. Meeta K. Shah, Senior Superintendent Shri Govind Sharma, and numerous officials and corporate representatives from the North Gujarat Region.
