Prateek Yadav, Son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Dies at 38
Prateek Yadav the younger son of the late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away in Lucknow. He passed away at the age of 38 on 13th of May, 2026. His death has shocked the political circles across the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was largely stayed away from active politics and known for business interests. He was half brother of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav.
According to some of sources Prateek Yadav was taken to the Lucknow Civil Hospital at around 6 am on Wednesday morning.
Officials from the hospital has stated that he showed no signs of life upon arrival , as no detectable pulse and fixed, dilated pupils.
Doctors had declared him dead shortly after the examination.
Prateek had reportedly been facing with the health issues for some time. A few weeks earlier he was admitted to the private hospital in Lucknow.
Samajwadi Party chief Shri. Akhilesh Yadav expressed the grief over the loss of his half brother.
Speaking to the reporters, he described the Prateek as a good person who fully focused on business and health rather than politics.
He also recalled the meeting him around two months earlier and said the family would proceed according to legal and family decisions.
The Samajwadi Party also issued the condolence message on X and mourns the loss.
Despite having the background of politically influential family, he chose a private and business focused life.
He studied at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom and was involved in the multiple ventures.

Prateek Yadav was married to the Aparna Yadav. She is BJP leader currently serving as vice chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission.
Earlier this year the couple briefly made headlines after a public marital dispute which surfaced on social media.
Prateek had posted messages indicating the differences and spoke about separation.
However within few days both sides publicly indicated that the issue had been resolved.
