President Murmu Presents SCOPE Eminence Awards

In a significant recognition of the role played by public enterprises in India’s development journey, President Droupadi Murmu presented the SCOPE Eminence Awards 2022–23 on August 29, 2025, in New Delhi. The awards, instituted by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), honor outstanding performance across governance, innovation, and sustainability. The President underlined the critical role Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) will play in achieving the vision of a Developed India by 2047.

Public Sector Enterprises: Nation Builders Since Independence

The historical importance of the public sector in shaping post-independence India. From industrialization to infrastructure development, CPSEs have been instrumental in promoting social inclusion, regional balance, and economic growth. Over time, these enterprises have adapted to evolving expectations, while maintaining their commitment to nation-building.

CPSEs are more than economic entities—they are catalysts of inclusive development. Their consistent performance across economic, environmental, technological, and ethical dimensions reflects a holistic model of progress.

Key Contributions and Achievements

President Murmu highlighted the following aspects of CPSE excellence,

  • Their alignment with national campaigns such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, promoting domestic capacity-building.
  • Their role in defense innovation, particularly the Akashteer system used during Operation Sindoor, which exemplifies indigenous technological advancement.
  • Their contributions in agriculture, mining, exploration, manufacturing, processing, and services, showing the vast scope of public sector engagement.
  • These achievements have been made while adhering to corporate governance norms, social responsibility, and a strong sense of transparency and ethics.

The SCOPE Eminence Awards: Celebrating Public Sector Excellence

The SCOPE Eminence Awards recognize the best practices and innovations in the public sector. The awards reflect SCOPE’s commitment to acknowledging efforts that align enterprise goals with national priorities. By evaluating parameters such as corporate governance, sustainable development, and social responsibility, the awards promote a well-rounded approach to enterprise performance.
