In a heartfelt ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, conferred the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2025 on 15 outstanding nursing professionals from across the country. These awards, which recognize the unwavering dedication, compassion, and service of nurses, are among the highest national honours for the nursing and midwifery profession in India.

The presence of these dignitaries underlined the government’s continued commitment to recognizing and uplifting the vital contributions of healthcare workers.
Instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Florence Nightingale Award honors Registered Nurses, Midwives, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) serving in both the public and voluntary sectors. These awards aim to recognize professionals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to patient care, public health delivery, and community welfare.

The awards draw inspiration from Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, whose legacy of compassion, precision, and resilience continues to guide the profession today. The recipients of the 2025 National Florence Nightingale Awards exemplify these virtues, working under challenging conditions and often with limited resources to deliver life-saving care.
Their recognition is not just symbolic—it is a call to society to acknowledge and uplift the profession that forms the bedrock of healthcare.
