Puducherry Gets New Leadership as Rangasamy Takes Charge as CM
N. Rangasamy has taken the oath as Chief Minister of Puducherry and this marks his 5th term in office. The swearing in ceremony was took place on 13th May, 2026 after the AINRC-led NDA alliance retained power in the Union Territory elections.
All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) founder Mr. N. Rangasamy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the UT Puducherry for the fifth time.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by the Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan.
Rangasamy took the oath in the name of God and continued familiar political style which is associated with his public image.
This fifth term will further cements his position as one of the Puducherry’s most influential political figures.
Along with the Chief Minister there are two ministers were also inducted into the new cabinet.
Malladi Krishna Rao who is a senior leader from the AINRC took oath as minister.
He represents the Yanam Puducherry enclave which is located geographically within Andhra Pradesh.
Also A. Namassivayam a prominent BJP leader has also took oath as minister highlights the alliance balance within the NDA government.
The cabinet composition indicates the strategic power sharing arrangement between the regional party and the BJP.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had successfully retained the control of Puducherry after winning the April 9, 2026 Assembly elections.
After he election victory Honorable President Droupadi Murmu appointed the Rangasamy as Chief Minister.
N. Rangasamy is one of the Puducherry’s most recognized political leaders.
