Former Mohun Bagan President Swapan Sadhan Bose Passes Away at 79
Former Mohun Bagan president Swapan Sadhan Bose, popularly known as “Tutu Bose”, passed away at the age of 79 after suffering a cardiac arrest in Kolkata. He was undergoing treatment for multiple health complications at a private hospital.
Tutu Bose was one of the most influential football administrators in India and remained associated with Mohun Bagan for more than three decades. During his long tenure, he served the club in several important roles, including secretary and president.
He played a major role in shaping the modern structure and administration of Mohun Bagan and became a well-known figure in Kolkata’s football culture.
According to family sources, his mortal remains will be kept at the Mohun Bagan club tent for fans and sports lovers to pay their final respects. The cremation is scheduled to take place later in the day.
His grandson Arinjoy Bose shared an emotional tribute on social media, calling him the “strongest pillar of support” for the family.
Mohun Bagan is one of India’s oldest and most successful football clubs. Founded in 1889, the club is famous for winning the historic 1911 IFA Shield by defeating East Yorkshire Regiment, a landmark moment in Indian sports history.
